The 10% TCA Peel is a professional-grade exfoliating treatment formulated to visibly refine skin texture and enhance the appearance of uneven tone. Designed for a controlled and comfort-focused experience, it features a blend of azelaic acid, kojic acid, and arbutin to support effective skin brightening and renewal.
Skin Type & Concerns:
- Skin Type: All
- Client Concerns: Hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne
Key Ingredients:
- Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) 10%: A medium-depth peeling agent that improves wrinkling, roughness, and pigmentation by stimulating new skin cell growth.
- Azelaic Acid (15%): A multi-functional active that reduces pigmentation, inflammation, and acne while inhibiting tyrosinase and offering natural antibacterial support.
- Alpha-Arbutin (5%): A non-irritating skin brightener that gradually fades dark spots and discoloration.
- Kojic Acid (2%): A proven tyrosinase inhibitor that lightens pigmentation and promotes more even tone with continued use.
Pro Tips:
- Best results will be seen when performed in a series of peels; Don’t agree to the peel series unless the client commits to home care.
- Contraindications: recent sun exposure, pregnancy, breastfeeding, certain topical medications/antibiotics, Accutane, OTC and prescription retinoids, and chronic illnesses. This list could be extensive, so please use your best judgment in selecting peel candidates.
- Prepare Fitzpatricks 4-6 with tyrosinase inhibitors (Glycolic & Retinol Pads) for 1 – 2 weeks prior to use to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- Apply one layer at a time with gauze, allowing for 5 minutes between layers.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE PEEL; have the client do the recommended post-care routine at bedtime (leave peel on for at least 8 hours).
- If the client has excessive peeling or a hot spot during the glycolic or lactic peel phases during the series, space treatments out and work around hot spots.
- During the peel series, if the client peels excessively during week 4, do not do more than two layers in week 8. If the client does not peel at all during week 4, apply up to 8 layers.
- For maintenance after the peel series, see the client every 4 – 6 weeks to perform lightening treatments with enzymes, and have the client continue homecare
Peel Homecare Important Notes:
- Client may experience visible peeling or dryness for 3–7 days post-treatment. Provide clear post-care instructions.
- Post-peel essentials: Hydration, barrier repair serums, and strict broad-spectrum SPF are non-negotiable.
